Desyatnikovo Village is located only 60 km away from Ulan-Ude and is officially ranked as one of the most beautiful villages of Russia. Old Believers, or Semeyskie, live in Desyatnikovo. They are the descendants of the Orthodox believers who didn’t accept patriarch Nikon’s reforms in the 17th century. It’s a small village with just 5 streets and about 100 houses. But how beautiful they are! Carved eaves, platbands, window shutters, colorful gates, inside the furniture and even the ceilings are painted. Each house has a spacious basement where people keep their food that they’ll surely offer to you. Getting acquainted with people, clothes, cuisine, folklore and households – all of this is included in the «Meeting the Old Believers» tour.
